Welcome to Quesst English Springer Spaniels
Several years ago, Ginger Huxley began to research the possibility of getting an English Springer Spaniel from the "source," the British Isles. Her motivation was based in increasing concern over health, structure, and temperament issues in the breed she has owned and loved for over 20 years.
Because of extensive family contacts in the UK and through diligent and patient inquiry, Ginger was able to contact and reach an agreement with Scottish breeder Mrs. Barbara Ganarin of the famous Berkenbar kennel. Jura, son of Sh Ch Berkenbar Carrera, the 2004 Scottish Open Show Dog of the year, reached U.S. shores in the spring of 2003. This was the first time a Berkenbar dog had been allowed to come to the U.S.
Jura finished his Championship on August 20, 2009, becoming the first Berkenbar Springer to get an AKC Championship. He has also achieved agility and rally titles and is currently working on tracking. In 2007, Jura was joined by another Berkenbar import, Ailsa. Ailsa is pointed in limited showing. Jura has been bred to Ailsa, and on November 5 Ailsa produced 7 lovely liver and white puppies, two males, 5 females. All the puppies are thriving and Ailsa is an excellent mother. This breeding should result in healthy, happy puppies with the quintessential Springer temperament along with substantial bone and beautiful heads. See the puppy page for pedigree and photos.
